A large stone was put in front of the door. Jesus’s mother, Mary, and Mary Magdalene visited the tomb.ġ- (Saturday) Jesus’s body lay in the tomb. A rich man named Joseph laid Jesus in his tomb. Jesus was questioned by the governor, Pilate, and by the king, Herod. Jesus’s disciple Peter denied that he knew Him. The disciples ran away in fear.Ģ- (Friday) Jesus was taken to the high priest, Caiaphas. People came with swords and arrested Him. Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to suffer for our sins and to pray to God. Then, to help them remember Him, He gave them the sacrament for the first time.
During the meal, Jesus told the disciples that one of them would betray Him. You could read the parable of the ten virgins, a story Jesus taught to His disciples to help them prepare for His Second Coming.ģ- (Thursday) Jesus’s disciples got ready for the Passover meal. He may have spent the day with His disciples. One of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, agreed to turn Jesus over to the priests in exchange for 30 silver coins.Ĥ- (Wednesday) The scriptures do not say what Jesus did on this day. The jealous priests were angry with Him.ĥ- (Tuesday) Jesus taught people in the temple and on a nearby hill called the Mount of Olives. Then He healed people who were lame or blind. Because He wanted the temple to be a “house of prayer,” He made them leave. Jesus visited the temple and then returned to Bethany.Ħ- (Monday) Jesus saw people buying and selling things in the temple.
People recognized Him as their King, shouting, “Hosanna,” and laying down palm leaves in front of the donkey to keep dust from getting on the Savior. He rode into the city on a donkey, as a verse in the Old Testament said He would.
Mary anointed His feet with oil.ħ- (Sunday) Jesus walked from Bethany to Jerusalem. He would stay there for five nights with His friends Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. Jesus walked to Bethany, a village near Jerusalem. Many people were coming to Jerusalem so they could offer sacrifices in the temple on that day. Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way. What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say? He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath. How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death? He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know. How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go? He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness. You can either countdown to any particular day such as Easter Day (or Easter Sunday) or add specific dates to the calendar such as Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday.He is Risen Hymn 199 or He Sent His Son –Primary Song #34ġ. How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness? The countdown makes the anticipation enjoyable, as well. Easter is also called “Pascha” (Greek/Latin), and Passover is called “Pesach” in Hebrew.Įaster customs such as egg hunting, the Easter Bunny, and Easter parades are such fun! My children wait all year for the chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnies, so they always look forward to Easter. In many languages, the words for “Easter” and “Passover” are similar.
